The DAVIAU family have long owned the Angevin vineyards. Winegrowers and millers, dating back from 1546, they operated a vineyard on the hillsides surrounding Brissac. In addition to their vineyard they owned several mills, including several windward ones arranged on the crest which overhangs the slopes of Aubance while entering Brissac and which was formerly called: the “Coast of the mills”. These landscapes were dedicated to cereals and water mills in the valleys, and the hillsides to vines and windmills, this was very typical in Anjou.
